INSTALLATION OF A CLASS B AIS ON A CANNE YACHT

Installation of an AIS class B on a Sun Odyssey sailboat at the port of Cannes

The AIS is a key element in enhancing safety at sea and improving the visibility of the vessel with other vessels. Recently, we installed an AIS class B on a Sun Odyssey sailing boat from the brand Jeanneau, moored at the port of Cannes. Thanks to this installation, the owner now benefits from an efficient system to navigate safely.

Why install an AIS class B on a sailboat?

The Class B AIS is specially designed for boaters and medium-sized vessels. It enables real-time shipping information to be sent and received, thereby improving collision prevention and communication at sea. This equipment is a major safety asset, especially in the case of night navigation or in areas with high maritime traffic.

Steps of installation at the port of Cannes

Diagnosis and choice of equipment.

We have studied existing electronic equipment to ensure optimal integration of the new AIS. The choice was based on an efficient model, compatible with the navigation instruments already in place.

Installation and connection to vessel systems.

Our expert has installed Class B AIS by ensuring its connection to the communication and navigation systems of the sailboat. A connection to the VHF and GPS tracer has been made to ensure effective dissemination of information.

Testing and validation.

Once the device was installed, we performed a series of tests in real-life conditions to verify the transmission and receipt of AIS data. Sea tests confirmed the vessel's good visibility on the screens of the surrounding vessels.
